कम्प्यूटर शब्द लेटिन भाषा के कम्प्यूट शब्द से लिया गया है | जिसका अर्थ गणना करने से है | अतः हम कह सकते है कि जिस मशीन का प्रयोग गणनाए करने के लिए किया जाता है उसे केलकुलेटर या कम्प्यूटर कह सकते है |
The word ‘Computer’ is taken from the Latin word ‘Compute’. Which means to Calculate. So we can say that all those devices or machines that are used to calculate calculations called calculator or Computer.
2. Definition of Computer (कम्प्यूटर की परिभाषा)
कम्प्यूटर एक ऐसी इलेक्ट्रॉनिक डिवाइस है जिसका प्रयोग डाटा को प्रोसेस करने के लिए और कई तरह की समस्याओ को हल करने के लिए किया जाता है | यह डाटा को इनपुट के रूप में ग्रहण करता है और उसे प्रोसेस करके अर्थपूर्ण सूचना में बदलता है | जिसके बाद उस सूचना को आउटपुट के रूप में हमे प्रदान किया जाता है |
Computer is an electronic device used to process Data (Binary code -0,1) and solve large verity of problems. It takes some Data as input and converts it into meaningful result called information. After this it provide us this information as output.
Input > Process > Output
नोट – डाटा को सूचना में बदलने की प्रक्रिया प्रोसेस कहलाती है|
Note – Conversion of Data into Information called Process done by CPU.

4. Important Points – (महत्वपूर्ण बिंदु)
- दुनिया की पहली केलकुलेटिंग डिवाइस अबेकस है अथवा दुनिया का पहला कम्प्यूटर अबेकस है
- दुनिया का पहला इलेक्ट्रॉनिक कम्प्यूटर ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integration and Calculation) है जिसे 1946 में ‘John Mauchly’ और ‘J. Presper Eckert’ ने बनाया |
- चार्ल्स बेबेज को कम्प्यूटर का जनक या पिता कहा जाता है |
- कम्प्यूटर को हिंदी में संगणक कहते है |
- कम्प्यूटर का IQ – 0 (शून्य ) माना जाता है |
5. Characteristics of Computer (कम्प्यूटर की विशेषताए)
- गति – गति कम्प्यूटर का एक विशेष गुण है यह कई मिलियन और ट्रिलियन केल्कुलेशन सेकण्ड्स में हल कर सकता है |
- लगन – कम्प्यूटर घंटो तक बिना रुके बिना थके लगातार कार्य कर सकता है |
- शुद्धता – कम्प्यूटर अपना कार्य बिना गलती के शुद्धता से करता है उसमे कोई गलती नही करता | अगर कम्प्यूटर में किसी कार्य में कोई गलती पायी भी जाती है तो वह मानव द्वारा ही की गयी होगी |
- सार्वभौमिक – कम्प्यूटर एक समय में एक से अधिक कार्य कर सकता है जैसे टाइपिंग करना, गाने सुनना, डाउनलोडिंग आदि एक समय पर करना |
- भण्डारण – कम्प्यूटर में किये गए कार्य को भविष्य में इस्तेमाल के लिए संग्रह कर के भी रखा जा सकता है |
- Speed – Speed is a special property of computer system. It can solve millions and trillions of calculations in seconds.
- Diligence – Computer can work many hours without feeling tiredness.
- Accuracy – Computer could work without any mistake. Even if you get any mistake it should done by human.
- Versatility – Computer could differently works at a same time. Like- Typing, Music listening, Downloading etc.
- Storage – In Computer we can store any work for future use.
6. Applications of Computer (कंप्यूटर के उपयोग)
- शिक्षा – कंप्यूटर से हम ऑनलाइन पढ़ाई कर सकते हैं, रिसर्च कर सकते हैं, डिजिटल किताबें पढ़ सकते हैं और वर्चुअल क्लासरूम में पढ़ाई कर सकते हैं।
- स्वास्थ्य – कंप्यूटर से डॉक्टर मरीजों के रिकॉर्ड रखते हैं, टेलीमेडिसिन के जरिए दूर से इलाज करते हैं, और मेडिकल उपकरणों को चलाते हैं।
- व्यवसाय – कंप्यूटर से काम को आसान बनाया जाता है, डेटा मैनेज किया जाता है, बात-चीत की जाती है और ऑनलाइन बेचने में मदद मिलती है।
- टिकट आरक्षण – कंप्यूटर से हम यात्रा या इवेंट के टिकट आसानी से ऑनलाइन बुक कर सकते हैं और तुरंत टिकट की पुष्टि और सीट का चुनाव कर सकते हैं।
- संचार – कंप्यूटर से हम ईमेल भेज सकते हैं, वीडियो कॉल कर सकते हैं, ऑनलाइन चैट कर सकते हैं और सोशल मीडिया पर जुड़े रह सकते हैं।
- काम – कंप्यूटर से हम लिखाई, प्रोजेक्ट्स का काम, डेटा एनालिसिस और टीम के साथ मिलकर काम कर सकते हैं।
