Structure of an Abacus
• ये आमतौर पर लकड़ी या प्लास्टिक का एक आयताकार फ्रेम होता है।
• इस फ्रेम में छड़ियाँ (या तार) होती हैं जिनमें मोती लगे होते हैं, जिन्हें आगे-पीछे सरकाया जा सकता है।
• हर छड़ी आमतौर पर एक प्लेस वैल्यू को दिखाती है (जैसे इकाई, दहाई, सैंकड़ा वगैरह)।

Disadvantages
- यह सिर्फ जोड़ और घटाव जैसे सरल गणनाएं कर सकता है, जटिल कैलकुलेशन नहीं कर सकता।
- इसमें मेमोरी स्टोरेज नहीं होती।
- इसे एक साथ कई लोग इस्तेमाल नहीं कर सकते।

What is a Difference Engine?
डिफरेंस इंजन एक शुरुआती मैकेनिकल कैलकुलेटर था, जिसे चार्ल्स बैबेज ने 1820 के दशक में डिज़ाइन किया था। इसे अपने आप गणितीय टेबल (जैसे लॉगरिथमिक और ट्रिग्नोमेट्रिक टेबल) बनाने और छापने के लिए बनाया गया था।
यह जटिल कैलकुलेशन कर सकता था। इसमें मेमोरी स्टोरेज होती थी। इसकी स्पीड अबैकस से ज्यादा थी।
The Difference Engine was an early mechanical calculator designed by Charles Babbage in the 1820s. It was built to automatically calculate and print mathematical tables, especially logarithmic and trigonometric tables. It was able to perform complex calculations. It has memory storage. It’s speed was more than abacus.
Disadvantages
- इसका आकार एक किचन जितना बड़ा था।
- यह सिर्फ जोड़, घटाव, गुणा और भाग जैसे बेसिक कैलकुलेशन कर सकता था।
- यह ज़्यादा बिजली खर्च करता था।
- आम लोग इसे आसानी से इस्तेमाल नहीं कर सकते थे।

- It consumes more electricity.
- Simple users can’t use this.
